Alberta Odorant Services

AOS is a private business owned by the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd. and funded by Gas Alberta Inc.

Since the 1990's, three of our Member Utilities (Bow River Gas Co-op Ltd., East Smoky Gas Co-op Ltd., and Smoky Lake County) have been delivering odorant (Mercaptan) to the rest of our member utilities. Alberta Odorant Services (AOS) was created in 2011 as a subsidiary of the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd.

AOS is responsible for the delivery of odorant to over 500 locations consisting of rural gas co-ops, municipal utilities, and First Nations utilities.

Rural Utilities Billing Information System

A co-operative billing system owned and managed by its users.

It was specifically designed for municipal and co-operative natural gas systems.

RUBIS uses powerful, versatile software covering all aspects of a typical billing program. It is based on Windows technology and uses an Oracle Database, allowing users to access their information in a secure, online environment from anywhere in the world.

RUBIS is set-up as a user-pay service within the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd. It was designed for natural gas utilities, but is also capable of handling propane and water customers.

RUBIS allows for:

• Both fixed and variable rates
• Email billing
• Seasonal billing
• Equal payment billing
• Generating final bills throughout the month
  

The Federation has a RUBIS billing staff able to complete data entry and payment reconciliation for utilities, or utilities can take RUBIS home to operate for itself. Contact RUBIS at 780-416-6525.
